The Leonard Cancer Institute embodies our commitment to caring for our patients in body, mind, and spirit.
By integrating radiation oncology, imaging services, and medical oncology, also known as infusion, into one location, our institute eliminates the need for patients to travel from one care center to another for crucial treatments.
Central to the building is a comprehensive research and clinical trial program that also serves as the home for our Cancer Conference. This dedicated, specialized conference reviews each patient’s case and treatment protocols, helping ensure the highest quality care and provide access to new medicines as they become available.
A clinical nurse navigation program provides stewardship and assistance for cancer patients and their families. While a registered dieticians using our state-of-the-art kitchen provide patients with the nutrition that helps maintain strength, lower risk of infections, and achieve lasting remissions.
Patients and families encounter quiet sanctuaries throughout the building—places that promote healing and well-being, and artwork that offers inspiration and hope. The peaceful environments of our Healing Garden and Serenity Chapel offer tranquil, soothing sites for thought, prayer, and reflection.
Nutritional demands during treatment
Nutrition is an important part of cancer treatment as the disease places extra nutritional demands on the body. This makes it essential that patients try to adopt a healthy diet to ensure they get the nutrition they need. Our team of registered dietitians is available to work one-on-one with patients and families to develop personalized nutrition goals and a plan to achieve them.
The Leonard Cancer Institute is equipped with a special teaching kitchen where dietitians provide cooking demonstrations. Educational programs offer ideas for healthy foods that supply the body with calories and nutrients to enhance energy and promote healing. Good nutrition helps patients to maintain strength, lower any risk of infection, and receive treatment without unplanned breaks. Our teaching kitchen also allows us to host classes on the important connection between food and cancer prevention. Our dietitians offer tastings that highlight various ways to incorporate colorful, fiber-rich fruits and vegetables into your diet, as well as flavorful lean meats and plant-based proteins. Live streaming video capability makes our educational programs easily accessible.
“Leonard Cancer Institute provides patients with an empathetic and dedicated team that is relentlessly passionate about transformational patient care that prioritizes patient health and happiness.”
